Question about the phrasesbook?

Is the phrasebook included in the iTRAVL Talking 2-way Communicator the same as Lingosoft Talking Phrasebook 2008?
I noticed both say 14,000 Phrases. Both have text to speech. Both have speech recognition. Are they the same software?

Yes, the iTRAVL includes the updated version of LingvoSoft software.

I have tried Lingosoft Talking Phrasebook 2008 English <-> Chinese. It does not include voice recognition for Mandarin Chinese. I also contacted one of the other members of this forum who owns the ECTACO iTRAVL NTL-2Ch. He confirmed that there is no speech recognition for mandarin Chinese.
The description of the ECTACO iTRAVL NTL-2Ch is misleading.
When I have directly asked you about this, you have been evasive and misleading.
A companies reputation is everything. Your credibility has been damaged.
Each customer who buys this device due to misleading or false information, will write reviews on internet forums, blogs and product reviews. Customers like myself will read these. We will hesitate to buy. I am glad I did.

The speech recognition of Lingosoft Phrasebook 2008 English <-> Chinese only recognizes English. It recognizes medium to long English phrases. However, it can not recognize single words or short phrases. Not even the ones in the phrasebook. It has trouble recognizing words that begin with certain sounds. It is not reliable enough to be useful. Speech recognition is not available for Chinese. You clearly said the ECTACO iTRAVL NTL-2Ch had speech recognition for both Chinese and English, both in emails and on these forums. This is not a good way to do business.
You have a 7 day return policy. Your customers must pay return shipping plus 6.5% restocking fee. Each customer you mislead will be out $40+ and two weeks of their time.

The Lingosoft Talking Phrasebook 2008 English <-> Chinese indeed has the English speech recognition only.
However, as I mentioned, the iTRAVL NTL-2Ch includes the updated version of LingvoSoft software and features both English and Chinese speech recognition.
Therefore the information provided in the product description at our website is not misleading in any way.

Can I download a demo of the updated Lingvosoft software? I would like to test the speech recognition. I was told by another customer that his ECTACO iTRAVL NTL-2Ch did not include speech recognition for Chinese. When I downloaded the Lingvosoft software, this seemed to confirm what he said.
There are many bad reviews on the internet. Many customers claim they were misled or misinformed by ECTACO. Perhaps this is only a case of misunderstanding, but I would feel much more confident if I could try this technology before I buy.

Unfortunately, we don't have any software that has Chinese speech recognition.
This feature is only available in the iTRAVL and the EC800 handheld translators.
