Problems with start up

I just received my Partner English Spanish PW8000 Talking ELectronic Translator and cannot make the power go on. The battery will charge and green light goes on but immediately goes off and the screen is lit but blank. THe power switch does nothing and all of button do not respond.
Battery is in correctly as is card; what else can I do? What do you recommend or is there a problem with the translator itself?

PROBLEMS WITH START UP

I have the exact same problem. Can you tell me how your's was resolved?
My unit is new and I was sent an e-mail, from tech support, telling me to remove the battery, then reinstall it and, then, hit the reset button... Which did not work.
