Asian languages support for jetBook

Asian languages support for jetBook

06.05.2010

We are glad to inform all those who are interested in our technical endeavors that from now on our jetBook eBook Reader also supports 4 Asian languages - Arabic, Farsi, Vietnamese and Hebrew - in addition to the vast collection of European languages it has been supporting.

We are trying to do our absolute best at providing the most comfortable reading experience to our customers from different regions and of different cultures as well as to any language enthusiast. The diligent work of our research and development center has made it possible to add these wonderful features, which, to our knowledge, are not yet available on other readers of the markets.

We would like to pay tribute to the blogger livingenzyme, one of our customers, who was the first one to describe this new feature in his blog even before the official press-release. This is what there is to say about the update:
"I have been doing some investigation and talking to some people. It seems that right now the ectaco jetbook lite is the only unit on the market that displays the Vietnamese characters 100% correctly. People who have … other ebook readers have reported not being able to get their devices to show unicode characters correctly… I'm glad they are planning/willing to extend their promotion of the product to other communities. Up till now, ebook readers out there … have been limited to latin based characters. Now that we know the jetbook lite could also show accurately unicode characters, which include East Asian languages as well as Arabic, their potential market has just increased vastly in size. This is a good thing. Anything to get people to read!"

Here is a picture showing a text in Vietnamese on a jetBook Lite

You can find this picture as well as some other and the complete post on the subject here. Also, we encourage you to follow jetBook related discussions on Mobileread.

P.S. The author of the good news will receive a brand new leather wallet and earlight for the jetBook LITE.
